About Pete:
Peter J Johnson
Pete started taking pictures when he was a pre-teen. Not knowing anything about
composition or exposure, trial and error were his first teacher, until he started high
school. He attended a fantastic 'Alternative' high school in Washington, D.C. Biology
class would meet at The National Museum of Natural History. A US History class held at
The National Portrait Gallery and other classes were held around the city in similar
fashion. There were a few classes however that were attended at the school house.
Photography was one of them. As he learned about shooting and traveled the city for
classes he discovered that he had unlimited subject matter for composition and his
classroom and darkroom time began to hone his technical expertise. He bounced
around several colleges on the east coast for several years into his twenties when he
started working in the motion picture industry. After more than a decade of working as a
lighting technician he decided to go back to school again. This time he had a direction to
follow, Cinematography. So he enrolled at USC's school of Cinema and Television.The
rest, as they say, is history...
